Upon arrival at Eunhyeondong, the place instantly gives off a cozy, retro vibe that transports you back to the ’90s. Menu
Looking for a place with appetizers that perfectly complement your drinks, Eunhyundong Hanyang University Bar at Wangsimni has got you covered with an array of dishes that will surely elevate your dining experience. From hearty soups like Busan-style fish cakes, pork belly fritters, beef tartare, cold water sashimi, to spicy chicken feet hot pot, and an endless list of stews, stir-fries, fried foods, and special delicacies – it’s a dream for those who love soju and beer pairings.
We initially tried to order fish cake soup, but it was already sold out (probably thanks to its reputation for great value). So, we decided to go with the pork intestines hotpot and the stir-fried beef and bean sprouts.
- Pork Intestines Hotpot: ₩22,900
- Stir-Fried Beef & Bean Sprouts: ₩13,900
- Soju & Beer Combo (1 Soju + 1 Terra): ₩10,000
If the weather had been a little warmer, we would have tried one of the shaved ice desserts, which seemed like the perfect post-drinking treat. The menu has a variety of options, clearly crafted by someone who knows their way around pairing dishes with drinks. I wouldn’t be surprised if the owner is quite the connoisseur.
Food Experience at Wangsimni restaurant, Hanyang University bar, Eunhyundong Hanyang University Branch
Complimentary Appetizer One of the highlights of the place is that they serve tofu kimchi as a complimentary appetizer. Yes, you read that right – tofu kimchi, a dish that could easily be the star of the meal, is served for free! The kimchi is fresh, not stir-fried, which gives it a refreshing contrast to the rich pork dishes. You can even order more for just ₩2,000.
Starting with the stir-fried beef with bean sprouts, the dish is packed with flavor and an addictive crunch from the fresh sprouts. The beef was plentiful, hidden beneath the layers of bean sprouts, making it a substantial dish that pairs perfectly with a cold beer.
Next came the pork intestines hotpot, which is rich, hearty, and packed with a generous amount of ingredients. Beneath the layers of veggies and chewy noodles, the tender pork intestines are perfectly seasoned and balanced with the flavors of bean sprouts and mushrooms. The broth is intense and comforting, making it an ideal choice for cooler nights. If you’re a fan of hotpots, you can’t miss this.
The portions here are more than generous, making Eunhyeondong Hanyang University Branch one of the best value-for-money spots in the area. We were full to the brim with just two dishes, and there was no need to order extra rice, even though the thought crossed our minds!
