Its exterior has a unique look, reminiscent of an East Village pub in New York, with a message about their signature house beer, poutine, and pizza displayed on a banner outside.

Inside, the pub has an atmospheric and slightly dimmed setting with a main hall and a cozy terrace area, especially inviting on rainy days with its transparent vinyl walls. The pub has a distinct, old-fashioned charm, complete with jazz music, gaming screens, and a dartboard—ideal for a relaxing night out. With its vintage vibe, dim lighting, and curated music, Sparrow has everything you need for a cozy night. The spacious screen also makes it an ideal spot to catch a game with friends on big match days.

Menu:

The candle-lit menu experience is a nice touch, featuring a simple yet varied selection of house, draft, and bottled beers, as well as cocktails, vodka, wine, and even soju. The classic focus on craft beers is refreshing in today’s trend-heavy bar scene. I’ve been curious about the “So-Mae,” a unique offering I plan to try on my next visit.

The food menu has plenty of beer-friendly options like pizza, fries, and poutine, all reasonably priced. We ordered the Sparrow Hot Korea pizza (₩11,000), the Sparrow Poutine (₩15,000), and a couple of beers—one Red Rock (₩5,000) and a Sparrow Draft with a coffee flavor (₩5,000).

Our beers arrived first, and after a cheerful “cheers,” I took my first sip of the coffee-flavored draft, which had a rich flavor similar to a classic stout. This was easily one of my favorites and something I’d order again without hesitation.

The complimentary snack paired perfectly with our drinks—it’s the kind of simple yet addictive flavor that makes you want to keep munching and sipping.

The Food:

When the Hot Korea pizza arrived, I was impressed by its thin crust, warm, stretchy cheese, and just the right balance of savory and salty flavors.

The garlic dipping sauce made it the perfect beer snack. Contrary to its “Hot Korea” name, it wasn’t spicy, which was a pleasant surprise.

Next up was my first-ever poutine! I’d been curious about this dish for a while, and Sparrow’s version did not disappoint.

Typically made with fries, gravy, and cheese curds, Sparrow’s special take uses a savory takoyaki-style sauce instead of the traditional gravy, giving it a unique twist. The diced mozzarella is a fun and tasty addition, and the fries retain a delightful crunch despite being covered in sauce.

Final Thoughts:

We left Sparrow fully satisfied, having enjoyed both the generous portions and affordable prices. With its old-school, rustic vibe, great prices, and cozy ambiance, It is an ideal place to catch up with friends over beer and snacks. I’m already looking forward to my next visit, where I plan to try their chocolate-flavored draft beer and another variety of their famous poutine.
