Whether it’s spring, summer, autumn, or winter, my love for sashimi never fades. Lately, I’ve been hooked on makhoe — freshly sliced raw fish mixed with vegetables, sauces, and a touch of seasoning.
I first discovered Makezip Sinsa after watching the Korean TV show Tasty Guys (맛있는녀석들), where the cast couldn’t stop praising the restaurant’s signature special sauce. I saved it on my Naver Place list and finally made the trip during a recent visit to Sinsa.

Outside the restaurant, banners showcase their signature natural raw fish, seafood platters, and seasonal delicacies like sea squirt (meongge). The atmosphere is inviting—casual enough for a last-minute stop before the last train, yet refined in its menu selection.
I visited in between the dinner rush and late-night crowd, thinking I’d easily get a table, but the place was packed. Luckily, a table had just cleared, but the group after us had to wait—proof of its popularity.

The interior is surprisingly chic: a grand chandelier in the center, flower-shaped mosaic pendant lights above each table, and an antique-retro charm that makes it stand out.
It’s no wonder the space is popular for casual dates, friend gatherings, and even year-end meetups. The seating is mostly for four, but tables can be arranged for larger groups.

Since we were just two people on a second round, we opted for the natural raw fish without saenggogi sekkoshi (thinly sliced raw fish bones) and paired it with a bottle of Cheongha, a smooth Korean rice wine.

One standout pairing is the natural raw fish with soybean powder and their signature red chili-vinegar sauce (chojang). The combination is surprisingly addictive, and the portion size is generous enough to share without running out.

I recommend trying it wrapped in dried seaweed (dol-gim) with a generous dip in the chojang. Even if you’re usually a soy sauce and wasabi purist, this sauce might change your mind.
