Do you start craving spicy food whenever stress builds up?

I definitely do.

Since I live close to Sindang dong and its famous Instant Tteokbokki Town, I usually head there whenever I need something fiery enough to reset my mood. I have tried several restaurants in the neighborhood almost like a personal food challenge, but only a few places truly stand out for spicy chicken feet.

One of them is Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom.

Opened in 1979, Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom is one of the longest-running restaurants in Sindang dong Tteokbokki Town. Whenever I crave chicken feet coated in a sweet, spicy sauce, this is one of the first places that comes to mind.

Recently, after stress had been building up like accumulated mileage, my boyfriend and I decided it was finally time to visit again.

Interior Space of Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom

Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant

Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom operates across two floors, although the first floor is usually used unless a large group reservation requires additional seating.

The first floor itself is divided into two levels.

Near the front entrance, there are around five four-person tables and an open kitchen where staff prepare chicken feet and instant tteokbokki.

A few steps lower, the dining area opens into a larger section with more tables suitable for groups.

One thing worth noting is that JSindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom has both a front entrance and a rear entrance connected to the bus stop.

My boyfriend and I once agreed to meet in front of the restaurant, only to discover that we were waiting at completely different doors. We eventually met inside the dining hall.

So when meeting someone here, make sure to specify the front or rear entrance.

Since Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom opened in 1979, the walls are filled with decades of celebrity signatures and photographs.

The collection alone feels like proof of the restaurant’s long history as one of the best-known establishments in Sindang-dong.

Menu of Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom

Like most restaurants inside Sindang dong Tteokbokki Town, the menu is clearly displayed across the walls.

Prices are adjusted over time, but the overall menu format has remained simple and easy to understand.

Most restaurants in the district maintain similar prices, so the main differences come from flavor, portions, and available toppings.

One of Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom’s biggest advantages is the wide selection of toppings and the option to add more without limit.

Compared with other restaurants that offer only a small number of fixed ingredients, Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom provides a much wider variety of noodles, fish cakes, and additional toppings.

We originally visited specifically for the spicy chicken feet.

Still, it felt almost wrong to come all the way to Sindang dong Tteokbokki Town without ordering instant tteokbokki, so we decided to have both.

On a normal day, I might add bean sprouts to the chicken feet to soften the spice and add more crunch.

This was not a normal day.

I was far too stressed for moderation, so we ordered the spiciest version without any additional vegetables.

The chicken feet arrive fully cooked and ready to eat.

The instant tteokbokki, on the other hand, is placed on the table and cooked directly over the burner.

Pickled radish is available as an unlimited self-service side dish, so guests can refill it freely throughout the meal.

The pickled radish served throughout Sindang dong Tteokbokki Town seems to come from the same supplier, and I have joked for years that I would love to be the daughter of that company.

It plays a surprisingly important role in balancing all the spicy food.

Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant

Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom’s spicy chicken feet may feel slightly mild to extreme spice lovers, but that is exactly why most people can enjoy them comfortably.

The sauce is sweet, spicy, and deeply absorbed into every piece.

More importantly, despite the strong flavor, I never experience stomach pain the next day.

That balance is probably one of the reasons Jongjeom has survived for so many decades.

The two of us eventually started competing with our chopsticks, each trying to grab one more piece before the plate disappeared.

One serving vanished so quickly that we nearly ordered another, but decided to save room for the tteokbokki.

Instant Tteokbokki

The portion was incredibly generous for two people.

Although we selected the spicy option, Jongjeom’s instant tteokbokki is not aggressively hot.

We started with a cold beer while waiting for the sauce to boil.

Once everything was ready, the first priority was the ramen noodles before they became too soft.

The pot also contained plenty of thin, wavy fish cakes, almost as much as the rice cakes themselves.

The wheat rice cakes became pleasantly soft and chewy, while the sauce remained mild enough that even children could enjoy it.

That likely explains why Jongjeom attracts more family diners than many other restaurants in the area.

It offers enough spice for adults while remaining approachable for younger guests.

Jongjeom Meal Kits

For those who live too far away to visit, Jongjeom also sells meal kits online.

Many traditional Sindang-dong restaurants were hesitant to enter the online market because they did not want to reveal their recipes or reduce the quality of their food.

Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom took a different approach.

Despite being one of the original long-running restaurants, it was also one of the first to begin selling meal kits through its online store.

The team says it spent considerable time developing a version that could be prepared easily at home while preserving the restaurant’s original flavor.

There was also a promotional event during my visit.

Customers who uploaded an Instagram Reel received one complimentary meal kit, so active social media users may want to check whether the event is still available.

Final Thoughts about Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom

After a particularly stressful week, this meal did exactly what I needed it to do.

The sweet and spicy chicken feet instantly improved my mood, while the generous instant tteokbokki completed the meal.

Among all the spicy chicken feet restaurants in Sindang dong, Jongjeom remains one of my personal favorites.

Chicken feet also feel slightly less guilt-inducing than eating another bowl of carbohydrates, which gives me one more excuse to return whenever I crave something spicy.

The restaurant is clean, the staff members are genuinely kind, and the flavor has remained consistent despite decades of popularity.

For anyone searching for an original Sindang dong spicy chicken feet restaurant that has maintained both its food and service since 1979, Sindang dong Spicy Chicken Feet Restaurant Jongjeom is absolutely worth visiting.
