Watching classic movies has always been one of our favorite ways to unwind. One evening, after rewatching the timeless romance Ghost, we couldn’t stop talking about the famous pottery wheel scene. Naturally, we started searching for a place in Seoul where we could try pottery together.
That’s how we discovered Seoul Pottery Class CERADU, one of the most highly rated pottery studios in Seoul. With more than a thousand excellent reviews and one of the highest ratings on Naver, it has already become a popular destination for celebrities, couples, families, and anyone looking for a memorable creative experience.
Weekend reservations were completely booked, so we finally managed to secure an evening weekday class. We originally planned to recreate the romantic Ghost moment—but instead, we became surprisingly competitive over whose pottery would turn out better.

Seoul Pottery Class CERADU is about a 10-minute walk from Yeoksam Station Exit 1. Driving is also convenient since the studio offers on-site parking behind the building, something that’s surprisingly rare for creative studios in central Seoul.
Finding a pottery studio equipped with its own kiln in Seoul is already impressive, but having such convenient accessibility makes Seoul Pottery Class CERADU even more appealing.

Besides pottery wheel classes, Seoul Pottery Class CERADU offers various creative workshops, including:

We booked the two-person pottery wheel class, although there is also a dedicated “Ghost Couple Experience.”
Unfortunately, every weekend session had already sold out.
Classes run daily from 10:40 AM to 9:00 PM, but popular sessions fill up quickly. If you have a specific date in mind, booking well in advance is highly recommended.

Inside Seoul Pottery Class CERADU Pottery Studio
Walking down the stairs through the distinctive pink entrance, we were surprised by how spacious the studio actually was.
The workshop comfortably accommodates around 30 people while remaining bright, organized, and incredibly clean.
Shelves throughout the studio display completed ceramic works and ongoing student projects, making it impossible not to become curious about the other classes. Personally, the beautifully decorated glassware immediately caught my attention for a future visit.
Seoul Pottery Class CERADU also offers children’s pottery classes, family workshops, and private group experiences, making it suitable for visitors of all ages.
The studio director is officially registered with Visit Seoul and also works as a youth career education instructor for the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, which explains why the curriculum feels so polished and beginner-friendly.
As someone who studied fine arts in high school, I never expected sculpture and ceramics to become interesting later in life. Yet standing among all these handmade pieces, I suddenly wanted to try creating everything myself.
Our Wheel Throwing Experience at Seoul Pottery Class CERADU
The class begins with aprons to protect your clothes before you’re guided to your own pottery wheel.
First, the instructor explains the entire process, safety tips, and how the one-hour workshop works.
You’ll choose what you’d like to make:
- Mug
- Bowl
- Cup
- Small vessel
One important thing to remember is that ceramic pieces shrink by approximately 15% during firing, so your finished product will be smaller than it looks while shaping the clay.
Our instructor stayed beside each participant throughout the process, even controlling the wheel speed with the foot pedal whenever necessary. That made the experience much easier than we expected.
From Romantic Date to Friendly Competition
My boyfriend went first and decided to make a coffee mug.
Watching him carefully shape the clay while trying to keep everything perfectly centered was surprisingly entertaining.
Once he finished, the instructor used a cutting wire to separate the piece from the wheel with incredible precision.
Meanwhile, I decided against making another mug.
“I want to make soju cups.”
The instructor smiled and said it was absolutely possible.
Since each participant receives a fixed amount of clay, I was able to create two small soju cups instead of one larger mug.
That sounded much easier…
It wasn’t.
Creating two cups with nearly identical sizes turned out to be much harder than expected.
Apparently, handmade ceramics have their own personality.
Decorating Our Pottery
After shaping the clay, we moved to the decorating stage.
We could choose from different glaze colors, paint freely with brushes, and add our own patterns or illustrations.
I intended to keep mine simple.
Instead, one of my cups somehow turned into something resembling Winnie-the-Pooh’s honey pot.
My boyfriend, on the other hand, concentrated with incredible seriousness.
While I wondered what masterpiece he was creating, I discovered he had been carving a tiny heart into his cup.
Turns out he has much steadier hands than I do.
The final step involved engraving initials or decorative details before the pieces were sent for drying and firing.
Finished ceramics are ready approximately 2–3 weeks later, and visitors can either pick them up in person or have them shipped.
We immediately agreed we’d return when ours were finished—and probably sign up for another class at the same time.
Is Seoul Pottery Class CERADU Worth Visiting?
Absolutely.
We never recreated the iconic Ghost pottery scene.
Instead, we laughed, competed, encouraged each other, and spent one of the most enjoyable afternoons we’ve had in a long time.
The experience reminded us that sometimes the process is far more memorable than the finished product.
