Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul, Fickle Pickle Jangchung is a hidden spot near Dasan Seonggwak-gil serving a huge steak salad and panzerotti, with a rooftop that feels like urban camping in the heart of Seoul.
When the weather gets nice in Seoul, Dasan Seonggwak-gil (다산성곽길) is one of my favorite places to go for a walk. It’s popular with couples, but I personally like coming here alone whenever I have a lot on my mind.
And after walking up and down the hills, there’s one place I keep returning to when hunger finally kicks in: Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle Jangchung (피클피클 장충).
If you’ve been here once, you’ll probably understand why.
The portions are generous enough to prove that yes, you really can get full from a salad. Their steak salad comes loaded with so much meat that I’d even recommend it to someone who normally rolls their eyes at the word “salad.”
But food isn’t the only reason I keep coming back.
Head upstairs and you’ll find a small rooftop that feels surprisingly removed from the city below. With its camping-inspired setup and views across the surrounding Seoul neighborhood, it’s one of my favorite hidden rooftop spots around Jangchung-dong.
A walk along Seoul’s old city wall, a filling meal, and maybe a cold beer on the rooftop?
That’s a pretty good Seoul afternoon.

Getting here does require a little effort.
From Dongguk University Station Exit 5, walk toward Jangchung Gymnasium and enter the Dasan Seonggwak-gil area.
You’ll need to climb a fairly steep hill before reaching Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle.
Coming from Yaksu Station Exit 10 also involves weaving your way uphill through the neighborhood.
If you’re driving, my recommendation is simple:
Use Dasan Art Public Parking Lot (다산아트 공영주차장).
There are other public parking lots before you reach it, and they may tempt you into parking early. But if you’d rather enjoy a pleasant five-minute walk along Dasan Seonggwak-gil instead of turning your restaurant visit into an unexpected hiking session, Dasan Art is the better choice.
From there, walk downhill for about five minutes until a bright splash of green appears in the distance.

Inside Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle Jangchung
The first floor immediately feels bright and open.
Floor-to-ceiling glass brings plenty of sunlight into the dining room, while white and transparent furnishings keep everything clean and minimal. Bright green and neon-green accents add just enough personality to make the restaurant feel young and playful.
Tables are spaced generously apart, too.
Even during an early dinner, there were already couples on dates and small groups sharing food and drinks.
And then there are the pickles.
Pickle characters pop up around the restaurant, which made me wonder about the name when I first discovered this place.
Was it a restaurant specializing in pickles?
That wasn’t such a strange assumption. I have a favorite spot in New York where people genuinely go specifically for fried pickles.
But there’s a joke hidden in the branding.
Say Fickle Pickle aloud and you’ll hear the playful rhythm behind the name. Rather than being a pickle restaurant, the idea is closer to being fickle—having such a hard time deciding what to eat because there are too many tempting choices.
And honestly, once you see the menu, it makes sense.
A Hidden Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul That Feels Like Urban Camping
The first floor is nice.
But the rooftop is what makes Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle particularly memorable.
Climb the narrow spiral staircase wrapped in the restaurant’s signature green accents and you’ll suddenly arrive at a completely different space.
There are only around four seating areas, giving the rooftop an intimate, almost camping-like atmosphere.
You’re still right in central Seoul, surrounded by residential neighborhoods and city buildings, but sitting up here with a drink somehow feels like taking a short break from everyday life.
Because homes surround the rooftop, guests naturally need to keep the noise down. That actually adds to its appeal for me. It’s better suited to quiet conversations and relaxed drinks than a loud rooftop party.
After walking along Dasan Seonggwak-gil, coming up here for a cold beer with someone you like would make a great Seoul date.
I was alone on this particular visit and decided to stay downstairs, but the rooftop immediately gave me a reason to return.
Next time: walk, sunset, rooftop, beer.

Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle Jangchung Menu
The available menu can differ depending on whether you’re visiting the dining hall, rooftop, or café area.
Since I was seated in the main dining room, I chose from a menu featuring dishes such as:
- Salads
- Pasta
- Gnocchi
- Steak
- Panzerotti
Panzerotti immediately caught my attention because there still aren’t that many places serving it in Seoul.
So naturally, I ordered one.
I also wanted something fresh after my walk, and Fickle Pickle does steak particularly well, so their generous steak salad was an easy choice.
An iced Americano completed my solo dinner.
It sounded reasonable when I ordered it.
Then everything arrived.
What to Eat at Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle Jangchung
Solo diners, you’ve been warned: portions here are generous.
The plates themselves are much larger than they look in photos, and once my entire order landed on the table, I had a brief “What have I done?” moment.
Thankfully, they’ll pack up what you can’t finish.
So no panic necessary.
Steak Salad
I started with a cold iced Americano made with pleasantly nutty coffee beans before moving straight to my favorite dish: the steak salad.
And calling this merely a salad almost feels unfair.
There was so much steak mixed through the greens that even someone firmly in the “salad isn’t a meal” camp could probably be convinced.
Tender slices of steak, fresh greens and tomatoes already make a reliable combination, but the addition of sun-dried tomatoes gives the salad a deeper, concentrated sweetness and acidity that I particularly love.
It tastes fresh without feeling like diet food.
More importantly, it actually fills you up.
For me, this is one of the dishes that makes Fickle Pickle worth revisiting.
Prosciutto Panzerotti
Then came the panzerotti.
If you’ve never had one, imagine something somewhere between a folded pizza and a substantial stuffed sandwich, with pizza-style dough enclosing the filling.
Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle‘s version was generously filled with prosciutto, which was pleasantly savory without any unpleasant cured-meat smell.
The exterior had that satisfying baked dough texture, while the filling made each bite considerably richer than the steak salad.
It’s definitely not a light side dish.
In fact, the salad alone could have been dinner.
But I have a weakness for the particular texture and flavor of panzerotti, and since there aren’t many places in Seoul where I can easily get one, skipping it wasn’t really an option.
They cut it into four pieces, which made my solution easy: one piece with dinner, the rest packed to take home.
Problem solved.
Is Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle Jangchung Good for Solo Dining?
Yes, although I’d recommend keeping an eye on how much you order.
I came here alone after walking around Dasan Seonggwak-gil, and the relaxed first-floor atmosphere made solo dining completely comfortable.
For couples, though, I’d choose differently.
If the weather is nice, head straight for the rooftop.
A walk along the Seoul City Wall followed by dinner and a beer on a quiet rooftop makes Fickle Pickle an especially good option for a Seoul date away from the busiest tourist districts.
Final Thoughts: A Hidden Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Worth the Climb
I packed up the remaining panzerotti and headed back toward the parking lot, enjoying another quiet walk through the neighborhood.
And that’s when I was reminded just how steep some of these streets really are.
The hills around Jangchung-dong are no joke, so if you’re driving, choosing your parking lot wisely will save you some suffering.
But Fickle Pickle itself?
Worth it.
The food, generous portions, quality of the ingredients and relaxed atmosphere all work, but the rooftop gives this place its own personality.
For me, Rooftop Restaurant in Seoul Fickle Pickle Jangchung is especially worth visiting after a walk along Dasan Seonggwak-gil. Come when your head feels crowded, walk until your thoughts settle down, then finish with a filling steak salad downstairs.
Or bring someone you like, head upstairs and have a cold beer in a rooftop space that feels a little like urban camping.
