Pocheon Caravan Near Sanjeong Lake: Why Maru Glamping Caravan Is a Winter Glamping Favorite

Pocheon is one of the easiest “quick healing” getaways from Seoul — close enough for a short trip, yet full of nature. And the best part? You can enjoy winter glamping without bringing any camping gear.
This time, my trip was all about Sanjeong Lake (Sanjeongho) — calm, quiet, and surprisingly beautiful in winter. If you’ve ever been to Annecy in France, you’ll get what I mean: a peaceful lake view that feels almost unreal. That’s why many locals call this area “Korea’s Annecy.”
And right near the lake sits a spot I had been wanting to visit for a long time:
Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan — a newer caravan glamping facility that opened in March 2023.
Even on a mid-February weekday (snowstorm warnings in Seoul, heavy snow expected in Pocheon), the place was still fully booked. That night — watching snow fall while sitting by the fire — and the next morning’s crystal-clear lake view… I’ll never forget it.
Overview of Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan
Location: Maru Glamping Caravan
Address
1012-28, Sanjeonghosu-ro, Yeongbuk-myeon, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
The location is one of the biggest highlights. It’s truly right near Sanjeong Lake — basically a 3-minute drive from the lake entrance. Perfect if you want to check in, enjoy a cozy night, and then walk the lake the next morning.
If you love mountains (but not necessarily hiking), this is the kind of trip that gives you pure “nature healing” with minimal effort.

First Impressions of Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan : Layout, Views, and Facilities

One small downside (and it’s worth knowing):
Parking is separated from the caravan areas.
So you’ll park first, then walk up a short staircase path to reach the rooms.
The whole property feels like it’s built on four tiered levels:
Level 1: Parking Area
This is where you park, then walk up about 10 steps.
Level 2: Spa Caravan Zone + Convenience Store/Service Desk

Here you’ll find:
- 4 spa caravans
- a small convenience store and service counter
- recycling and food waste disposal stations (near the stairs down to the parking lot)
The spa caravans are more compact (one main bed) and best for 2 adults, or 2 adults + 1 child.
Level 3: Luxury Glamping Caravan Zone (Where I Stayed)

Also 4 units, but no spa — instead, it’s roomier and better for couples or families:
- one large bed
- one bunk bed (useful for kids… or as extra storage)
We chose this because we didn’t really plan to use a spa in winter, and the extra sleeping space made the room feel much more comfortable.
Level 4: Rooftop / Highest View Areas
There’s a rooftop space above the service desk — and the view opens up beautifully as you go higher. Even if you don’t stay in the highest-tier units, it’s worth walking up once for the scenery.
Service That Felt Surprisingly Thoughtful at Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan
What impressed me most was how carefully the staff communicated. Instead of leaving guests to figure things out, they checked in at key moments — all by simple, clear messages:
- Pre-check-in instructions and reminders
- BBQ and fire pit guidance + payment details
- Weather monitoring (and proactive refund 안내 if fire pit becomes unsafe)
- BBQ wrap-up timing reminders
- Check-out reminders the next morning
It was the first time I felt truly “looked after” at a glamping site — and it matched how clean and well-managed everything was.
Room Review of Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan : Clean, Warm, and Couple-Friendly
I’ve stayed in a few caravans, and this one felt the cleanest so far:
- no “old caravan smell” at all
- warm air greeting you as you enter
- neat wood flooring and tidy interior design
Check-in / Check-out
- Check-in: 3:00 PM
- Check-out: 11:00 AM
Layout Detail I Loved
Instead of a big dining table in the middle, they created a window-side bar table.
That single design choice made the room feel noticeably bigger — and it became my favorite spot for morning coffee while watching the snowy mountain view.
Safety Features
Each room includes:
- fire extinguisher
- smoke detector
- carbon monoxide detector
Also important: No indoor cooking with flames.
You can eat inside, but any cooking with fire must be done outside on the deck.
This is exactly why the room felt clean and odor-free.
Bathroom & Amenities

The bathroom was spotless and had a real window (huge win for ventilation).
Provided in the bathroom

- shampoo, conditioner, body wash
- towel (1 towel per person)
- hair dryer
Not provided
- toothbrush / toothpaste
- cleansing foam
Bring extra towels if you prefer more than one per person.
In-Room Items (What You Get)
The essentials were all there:

- heating/cooling system
- refrigerator (proper size, not tiny)
- microwave
- electric kettle
- portable gas burner
- sink
- TV with OTT access
- cookware and basic utensils (pots, pan, knife, scissors, cutting board, tongs, etc.)

The bedding was hotel-clean white bedding, neatly set. There wasn’t an electric blanket, but the heating was strong enough that most people will sleep comfortably — and if you like extra warmth (like me), bringing a small electric throw blanket is perfect.
Deck Area at Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan : BBQ + Fire Pit in the Snow

BBQ Night at Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan : Simple, Cozy, and So Satisfying

We grilled pork neck and pork jowl, plus a foil-pack mushroom dish I’d been wanting to try.

The charcoal heat was strong, which made everything cook beautifully — especially the mushrooms. They turned juicy and deeply flavorful, almost like they released their own broth inside the foil. Honestly, that foil mushroom dish became the surprise star.
Fire Pit Moment at Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan : Snowfall + Quiet Healing

At first, the staff thought the wind might be too strong and offered a refund.

But they kept checking the weather — and later told us it looked safe enough to proceed.

That small effort made the night.

With a warm lamp brought from inside, the lights turned down, and snow slowly falling, the fire pit became the kind of winter memory you keep forever.
Morning at Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan : Clear Skies After Snow + Sanjeong Lake Drive (3 Minutes)

We woke up, opened the blinds, and it looked like the snow had never happened — bright and unbelievably clear.

After check-out, we drove down to Sanjeong Lake (about 3 minutes). Once you get close, the lake view starts appearing through the car window, and it’s instantly calming.
Winter is especially beautiful here because it’s quiet — no crowded activities, just peaceful scenery.
If you have time, I strongly recommend:
- grabbing a morning coffee nearby
- walking the lakeside trail (the views change as you walk)
It’s easy, refreshing, and genuinely healing.
Final Thoughts about Pocheon Caravan, Maru Glamping Caravan : Why I’d Return (500% Yes)
I usually travel abroad more than domestically, and in Korea I often prefer Gangwon-do over Gyeonggi-do. But somehow, Pocheon keeps pulling me back — it feels different every time.
This trip was a perfect combination:
- mountain scenery
- lake views
- a clean and modern caravan
- thoughtful service
- winter BBQ + fire pit memories
If you’re searching for a Pocheon Caravan stay that’s close to Sanjeong Lake and ideal for winter glamping, Maru Glamping Caravan is an easy, confident recommendation.
Close to Seoul, comfortable, beautiful — and absolutely worth a repeat visit.
