I first discovered Nonhyeon Restaurant Bistro Nonhyeon after visiting with a friend a couple of times. Located near Nonhyeon Station, this small neighborhood bistro quickly became one of my favorite places for pasta in the area.
Nonhyeon Restaurant Bistro Nonhyeon is already well known among locals. Parents from nearby Nonhyeon Elementary School often gather here for lunch, and by noon the space fills up with office workers looking for a satisfying meal.
The reason is simple.

Add to that the energetic and friendly service, and it easily becomes a place you want to save and revisit. I often stop by for a quick solo lunch or a casual brunch meeting.
Most of the time I order pasta here because the texture of the noodles and the flavor of the sauces are consistently excellent. But on my last visit, the risotto served at the table next to me looked so good that I decided to try it this time.

Because I had a meeting in Nonhyeon that afternoon, I decided to stop by early at opening time and enjoy a light brunch with risotto.

Despite arriving right at opening time, most of the tables were already reserved. Luckily I had made a reservation in advance.
Because the seating area is compact, the restaurant thoughtfully provides baskets where guests can store coats or bags.
The first wave of customers usually includes parents from the nearby elementary school enjoying brunch conversations. After they leave, there is a short quiet period before office workers arrive for lunch.
My favorite table is the window-side four-person table, which is perfect for two people. Unfortunately, it was already occupied this time, so I took my reserved seat instead.
Since I was dining alone, I asked the staff to remove one of the place settings and started looking forward to the dish I had already decided on — risotto.

Even before the main dish arrived, the warm bread served as an appetizer already showed the restaurant’s care. Soft on the inside and lightly crisp on the outside, it was perfect when dipped into balsamic vinegar.
Next came a refreshing lemon ade, clearly made with house-made lemon syrup. Mixing it well brings out a bright citrus flavor that immediately stimulates the appetite.
The plating was beautifully green and fresh. Nothing felt overly
complicated, yet the ingredients themselves were vibrant and flavorful.
Fresh greens and tomatoes were used generously, and their natural flavors were enough to make the dish enjoyable even without heavy sauces.
Then came the dish I had been waiting for — the basil seafood risotto.
From the moment it arrived, the aroma of basil filled the air.
The risotto was generously topped with scallops and shrimp, and the portion size was surprisingly large.
I had always thought of Bistro Nonhyeon mainly as a pasta restaurant, but the risotto was just as impressive. Each grain of rice was cooked to the perfect texture — tender yet slightly firm — and the fresh basil flavor lingered beautifully with every bite.
It was a dish that felt both comforting and refreshing at the same time.
Another small highlight was the house pickles served alongside the meal. They added a bright, slightly tangy flavor that balanced both pasta and risotto perfectly.
They tasted homemade and paired so well with the dishes that I ended up asking for several refills.
