Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet Junggyeong Sikgaek: Unlimited Mala Hot Pot for KRW 21,900

Lately, I have been completely obsessed with mala dishes, especially Mala Xiang Guo and Malatang.
Knowing this, a friend recently asked whether I had ever visited an all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurant in Korea. I had tried a few more upscale hot pot restaurants while traveling in Taiwan and Hong Kong, but I had never experienced an unlimited hot pot buffet in Seoul.
She immediately recommended Junggyeong Sikgaek Konkuk University Branch, where adults can enjoy unlimited hot pot for only KRW 21,900 per person.
The price caught my attention right away.
Even when I eat Mala Xiang Guo alone, adding vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, noodles, and meat often pushes the bill beyond KRW 20,000. Dining with another person can quickly become expensive.
Here, however, the fixed price includes unlimited meat, seafood, vegetables, mushrooms, tofu products, noodles, hot pot ingredients, soft drinks, cooked dishes, and even dessert.
The buffet also includes dishes such as Guobaorou, fried rice, Mapo tofu, condensed milk buns, and soft-serve ice cream.
Best of all, we could enjoy a divided pot containing both numbing spicy mala broth and mild white broth at the same time.
For anyone who loves mala but always worries about the final weight and price at self-service Malatang restaurants, this place feels almost too good to be true.

Junggyeong Sikgaek Konkuk University Branch
109 Dongil-ro 20-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet, Junggyeong Sikgaek is located approximately three minutes on foot from Konkuk University Station Exit 5.
Once you leave the station and turn into the nearby street, the restaurant is easy to identify. Even when we arrived shortly after opening, several people were already waiting near the entrance.
My friend has visited many unlimited hot pot restaurants around Seoul, but she said this was one of the best she had found in terms of ingredient variety and freshness.
For people who genuinely love mala, she described it as paradise.
Opening Hours
Daily: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Last Order: 10:00 PM
Unlimited hot pot is available for parties of at least two people.
The dining time is limited to 90 minutes, so it is best to begin selecting ingredients shortly after being seated.
Interior Space of Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet, Junggyeong Sikgaek

Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet, Junggyeong Sikgaek has a large, open dining hall that feels much more comfortable than many compact hot pot restaurants in Seoul.
On the day of our visit, the weather was pleasant, and sections of the glass walls had been opened to let fresh air circulate through the dining room.
The ventilation was excellent, so despite cooking strongly scented broths at the table, I did not leave feeling as though the smell had absorbed into my clothes.
The interior was modern, clean, and carefully maintained.
Most of the dining area consists of four-person tables, although there are also several tables suitable for six guests. Larger groups can combine tables, making the restaurant practical for casual company dinners, group gatherings, and meals with friends.
Prices of Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet, Junggyeong Sikgaek

The pricing system is straightforward.
Adults: KRW 21,900
Children aged 8–13: KRW 13,900
Children aged 7 and under: KRW 5,900
After telling the staff how many guests are dining, you simply choose two broths for the divided hot pot.
A tomato broth was available and sounded interesting, but for a first visit, I recommend the restaurant’s most popular combination:
The Flavor of Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet, Junggyeong Sikgaek
Spicy Mala Red Broth and Nourishing White Broth
The red broth provides the numbing, fragrant heat that mala lovers want, while the white broth offers a mild, savory alternative between spicy bites.
Once the broths are selected, everything else—from sauces to vegetables, meat, noodles, drinks, and dessert—can be collected from the buffet.
One important rule is clearly displayed near the buffet.
Guests who take excessive food and leave a significant amount behind may be charged an environmental fee of KRW 5,000 per person.
Since everything can be refilled, it is much better to begin with manageable portions and return for more as needed.
Building a Hot Pot Dipping Sauce

Since both my friend and I love mala, we were far too excited while preparing the table.

Our first stop was the sauce station.
There were more than ten ingredients available for creating customized dipping sauces, along with a helpful guide showing recommended combinations.

Guests can mix sauces using ingredients such as sesame sauce, soy sauce, garlic, chili, green onion, cilantro, and additional seasonings.
We also collected plenty of pickled mustard greens and pickled radish.
Soft drinks are unlimited, so we started with Mountain Dew.
Still, hot pot becomes filling surprisingly quickly, so I recommend drinking carbonated beverages in moderation if you want to leave enough room for the buffet.
Unlimited Fresh Hot Pot Ingredients

Because we arrived right after opening, I initially wondered whether the buffet would still be in the process of being prepared.
Within minutes, however, every section had been filled and neatly organized.
The vegetable and hot pot stations included an impressive range of ingredients:

- Napa cabbage
- Bok choy
- Lotus root
- Mushrooms
- Tofu
- Fried tofu
- Seaweed
- Cilantro
- Bamboo shoots
- Wide glass noodles
- Various noodles
- Fish cakes
- Fish balls
- Wide potato noodles
The ingredients looked fresh and clean, and the trays were replenished continuously.
Next to the vegetable station was a refrigerated meat section filled with:

- Beef
- Lamb
- Dumplings
- Additional frozen hot pot ingredients

We loaded our plates with vegetables, tofu products, mushrooms, lotus root, bamboo shoots, wide noodles, meat, fish cakes, and my favorite wide potato noodles.
At a regular Malatang restaurant, I would normally hesitate before adding heavier ingredients because every gram increases the price.
Here, there was no reason to calculate or hold back.
That freedom alone made the experience incredibly satisfying.
Mala Red Broth and White Broth
Once we returned to the table, the staff brought out a large divided hot pot containing both broths.
We added the firmer vegetables and tofu products first, then cut larger ingredients using scissors provided at the buffet station.

Meat and wide potato noodles went in near the end so they would not overcook.

The spicy red broth delivered the familiar mala aroma and numbing heat without feeling excessively oily.
The white broth was mild, savory, and comforting, making it easy to alternate between the two throughout the meal.

One of my favorite ingredients was fried tofu.

It absorbed the broth deeply, releasing a burst of savory soup with every bite. Its airy texture worked especially well in both the mala and white broths.
The meat, bok choy, mushrooms, and wide potato noodles were equally delicious.
Whenever the broth level became low, additional broth was available for unlimited self-service refills.
Unlimited Guobaorou and Chinese Side Dishes

We had already eaten far more hot pot than expected, but skipping the cooked food section would have felt like a waste.

Junggyeong Sikgaek is also known for its Guobaorou, so we waited until a fresh batch was brought out and filled another plate.
The buffet’s cooked dishes included:
- Guobaorou
- Fried rice
- Mapo tofu
- Stir-fried corn
- Condensed milk buns
The Guobaorou was crispy outside and tender inside, with a sweet-and-sour glaze that paired perfectly with the spicy hot pot.
It was popular enough that the restaurant limits the number of pieces guests may take at one time, helping everyone enjoy a freshly prepared portion.
The condensed milk buns were also surprisingly enjoyable even though we were already full.
I had added only a small amount of condensed milk because I felt self-conscious about using too much, so mine tasted slightly less sweet than expected. Next time, I would be more generous.
Unlimited Drinks and Soft-Serve Ice Cream

The meal ended with unlimited soft-serve ice cream.
Instead of having an especially rich, milky texture, the ice cream felt slightly icy and refreshing.

That lighter finish worked beautifully after the rich broths and spicy mala flavors, cleansing the palate without making the meal feel even heavier.
Between the hot pot, cooked food, drinks, and dessert, the entire experience offered exceptional value.
Final Thoughts about Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet, Junggyeong Sikgaek
Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet, Junggyeong Sikgaek is one of the most satisfying all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurants I have visited in Seoul.
For only KRW 21,900 per adult, guests can enjoy unlimited:
- Beef and lamb
- Seafood and fish cakes
- Fresh vegetables
- Mushrooms
- Tofu products
- Noodles
- Wide potato noodles
- Dipping sauces
- Chinese cooked dishes
- Soft drinks
- Soft-serve ice cream
The freshness and variety were much better than I had expected from an affordable buffet.
Most importantly, the combination of numbing spicy mala broth and mild white broth made it possible to enjoy bold flavors without becoming overwhelmed.
I left already thinking that I would need to return at least once a month for another hot pot meal.
For mala lovers who are tired of worrying about ingredient weight and rising prices, this Konkuk University Hot Pot Buffet, Junggyeong Sikgaek is an easy recommendation.
Choose the red and white broth combination, take only as much as you can finish, and enjoy the freedom of adding every favorite ingredient without checking the scale.
