Ikseon-dong Bakery Culture Bakery: A Giant Onion Bagel You Can Only Find Here

A new bakery opened in Ikseon-dong, and for a bread lover like me, intuition kicked in immediately.
While passing by the nearby parking area, I noticed a beautifully styled hanok building and instinctively thought, this has to be a new hot spot.

That was my first encounter with Culture Bakery.
I visited twice before but failed both times—every single loaf was sold out.
Determined to finally taste it, I made my third visit almost like an open run, right before the Lunar New Year holiday. Thanks to that timing, I finally got to enjoy freshly baked bread straight out of the oven.
Among them, the giant onion bagel stood out immediately.
It’s the kind of flavor you rarely find elsewhere—unique, generous, and unmistakably Culture Bakery. From that moment on, I knew this place would become my must-stop bakery whenever I’m in Ikseon-dong.

There’s no seating area—this is a takeaway-only bakery, and the baking space takes up most of the interior.
Only one long display shelf holds the bread, with a carefully curated selection rather than overwhelming variety. Each loaf is large, bold, and generously topped.
For customers in a hurry, there’s a side cart with pre-packaged bread ready to grab.
For first-timers like me, standing in front of the display and finally choosing after multiple failed visits feels almost ceremonial.
The aroma alone is intoxicating. These are familiar breads, reinterpreted in a modern and unmistakably bold way—both in flavor and size.

Once you choose, the staff immediately put on fresh gloves, slice each bread neatly, and package everything with care.
Each item is cut into easy-to-eat portions, making it convenient to enjoy anywhere.
The garlic bread is placed in a dedicated box to protect the sauce and shape.
The giant onion bagel is cut into four pieces—but each quarter is almost the size of half a regular bagel.
