Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon: A Rustic Countryside BBQ Experience in Seoul

Anyone who dreams of enjoying a Korean countryside barbecue without leaving Seoul should pay attention to Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon

The moment I stepped inside, the rustic décor made me feel as though I had arrived at my grandmother’s home in the countryside for a weekend barbecue. From the traditional farm-inspired interior to the pork pre-grilled over straw fire and charcoal, the entire experience felt like a miniature rural getaway in the middle of the city.
The atmosphere alone was memorable, but the food was even better. Among the different pork cuts, the pork neck was especially impressive—tender, juicy, and deeply fragrant from the straw-fire grilling.
Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon has also become increasingly popular on Instagram, and it is easy to understand why. The restaurant works equally well for a casual date, a family meal, or a large company dinner near Guui Station.
For anyone who wants to escape the routine of everyday Seoul and enjoy a countryside-style Korean barbecue, this is an easy recommendation.

During evenings and weekends, Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon is well known for attracting long lines.
The waiting area itself is unusually large, with plenty of seating for guests. Even then, the restaurant can become so crowded that people sometimes have to wait outside.
I visited at around 3 PM on a weekday, which allowed me to enter immediately without waiting.
Apparently, some guests even take half a day off work just to visit during quieter hours. Fortunately, I was able to enjoy the restaurant at a relaxed pace.

Interior Space of Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon

The countryside concept begins as soon as you enter.

The space is decorated with dried corn, potato sacks, traditional farm-style objects, and other nostalgic details that make the restaurant feel more like a rural market or country house than a modern Seoul barbecue restaurant.
Near the entrance, guests can also watch the staff carefully pre-grilling selected pork over straw fire.

Because the pork is pre-grilled only after an order is placed, it arrives at the table warm, fragrant, and ready for a quick final sear.

The restaurant operates across two floors.

The second floor is considerably larger than the first, although only the first floor was open during my mid-afternoon visit because it was relatively quiet.

Most tables are designed for four guests and include a built-in grill. Depending on the group size, tables can be combined to accommodate larger parties.
At first, I thought my friend and I might have the entire dining room to ourselves, but two other tables were already enjoying late lunches.
Even outside peak hours, Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon clearly has a steady flow of customers.
Menu at Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon
Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon specializes in pork belly, pork neck, and several special cuts.
The menu is displayed on the walls and mirrors, but staff also bring a wonderfully retro menu to each table. Its design perfectly matches the restaurant’s rural vacation concept.
The main menu focuses on straw-fire pre-grilled pork, while other options include Sunchang gochujang-marinated pork and individually ordered cuts.
There are also several popular meal dishes and vegetables designed to be grilled alongside the meat.
The drink menu is surprisingly extensive.
In addition to standard Korean beer and soju, Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon offers a wide range of highballs, making it a good place for a casual barbecue and drinks.
Guests who want to bring wine or whisky can also use the corkage service for KRW 20,000.
Since it was our first visit, we chose the signature Straw-Fire Pre-Grilled Pork Set without hesitation.
The set includes 520 grams of pork belly and pork neck, along with garaetteok rice cakes and assorted vegetables for grilling.
My friend and I decided not to order an additional stew because the set already seemed more than generous for two people.
We will have to save the other dishes for our next visit.
Side Dishes
The side dishes arrive neatly arranged and beautifully presented.
Even while waiting for the pork, there is plenty to taste and enjoy.

The three seasonal pickles were all refined and flavorful, without a single disappointing item.

As the weather was beginning to warm up, the cold seaweed soup was especially refreshing.

Many barbecue restaurants now provide fewer leafy vegetables because of rising produce prices, so I appreciated the generous basket of fresh lettuce and greens. It also fit perfectly with the countryside barbecue concept.
The steamed egg was another highlight.
It had no unpleasant eggy smell and was so soft and savory that I kept taking additional spoonfuls.
The crunchy cabbage salad was equally refreshing and worked well between bites of richer pork.
Straw-Fire Pork Neck and Pork Belly

While we enjoyed the side dishes, the main platter arrived.
The pork belly and pork neck had already been pre-grilled over straw fire, then grilled once more to deepen the smoky aroma.
The staff explained that because the meat was already partially cooked, we only needed to sear the two uncooked sides briefly before eating.
Although guests still grill the pork themselves, the pre-grilling makes the process much easier.
The pieces are also cut into convenient bite-sized portions, so there is very little work required at the table.
I started with the pork neck.
From the first bite, the meat released an impressive amount of juice while remaining exceptionally tender.
The texture was soft without losing its satisfying bite, and the straw-fire fragrance added a subtle smoky depth.
Before finishing the pork neck, we quickly placed the pork belly on the grill.
Best Ways to Enjoy the Pork
Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon that serve high-quality meat often keep the seasonings simple, allowing the pork itself to remain the focus.
Guui Nongwon follows that approach.
The meat was delicious on its own, but it also paired beautifully with salt, fresh wasabi, and the restaurant’s signature dried pollock seasoning.

That dried pollock topping was particularly memorable.
It added a light savory flavor without overwhelming the natural richness of the pork.
The green onion salad and freshly seasoned kimchi were also excellent.
Neither was excessively spicy, so they complemented the pork rather than covering its flavor.

The combination with the pork neck was especially good and easily became one of my favorite bites of the meal.
The remaining pork belly was grilled until crisp on the outside while staying juicy inside.
Although the set contains 520 grams of meat, each cut is thick and substantial.
For two adult women, the portion was definitely generous.
Grilled Vegetables and Garaetteok

The assorted vegetables became even sweeter after grilling alongside the pork.
The garaetteok rice cakes were another satisfying addition.
Once the outside became lightly crisp and the inside remained soft and chewy, they provided the final push toward complete fullness.
Between the meat, vegetables, rice cakes, and side dishes, the meal was more than enough for two people.
Thoughtful Service Until the End
The restaurant’s attention to detail continued after the meal.

Dental floss is prepared at each table, which is genuinely useful after eating thick cuts of meat.

On the way out, guests are also offered small probiotic yogurt drinks.
It reminded me of the sweet yogurt drinks Korean grandmothers often handed out after a meal, making it the perfect final touch to the countryside concept.
Final Thoughts about Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon
Guui Station Korean BBQ Restaurant Guui Nongwon offers much more than good Korean barbecue.
The combination of its nostalgic rural décor, spacious dining areas, generous side dishes, and straw-fire pre-grilled pork creates a dining experience that feels like a short countryside vacation inside Seoul.
Among the many Korean barbecue restaurants I have visited recently, this one served some of the neatest and most delicious side dishes.
The service was equally thoughtful from beginning to end.
Most importantly, the pork neck was outstanding—juicy, tender, and full of smoky straw-fire flavor.
