Why Goseong in Gangwondo Is My Favorite Place in Korea
If I had to choose one place in Korea to live outside of Seoul, I would always say Goseong Pension in Gangwondo without hesitation.
It’s one of those rare places where everything feels balanced.
In front of you, there’s the calm, clear East Sea. Behind you, the powerful presence of Seoraksan Mountain. The scenery alone makes you feel grounded.
No matter the season—summer or winter—Goseong has a way of pulling you back. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or need a reset, this is the place I return to.
And within Goseong, the area around Cheonjin Beach has become my personal favorite. At this point, I know the neighborhood so well it feels almost like home.
A Goseong Pension in Gangwondo Spring Castle That Made Me Want to Stay for a Month

This trip was a little different. Instead of the usual bright summer or crisp winter views, I experienced Goseong in early March, with soft snow falling over the sea.
The ocean looked quieter, more muted, but somehow even more peaceful.
And what made this trip truly special was discovering Spring Castle, a newly built Goseong pension in Gangwondo located just a short walk from Cheonjin Beach.
It’s one of those rare places where everything feels just right—clean, modern, fully equipped, and incredibly comfortable. Honestly, it felt like a place where you could stay for weeks without needing anything else.

Location & Accessibility
Address: 15 Cheonjin 5-gil, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwondo, Spring Castle is located within walking distance of Cheonjin Beach, making it incredibly convenient for morning walks or sunset views.
If you’re traveling by car, it’s even easier. Parking is available on the first floor, and from there you can take the elevator directly to your room.
The building itself is a modern three-story structure:
- Second floor: two guest rooms
- Third floor: one private full-floor unit
We stayed in Room 201 on the second floor.
There’s also a rooftop terrace with an ocean view, accessible by elevator. Unfortunately, we couldn’t fully enjoy it due to rain on the first day and heavy snow on the second—but that just gave me another reason to come back.
