Gangnam Rice Bakery With Surprisingly Chewy Rice Bread – Gangnam Rice Bread

I absolutely love bread, but there has always been one problem.
No matter how good the bakery is, eating too much wheat bread almost always leaves me feeling bloated afterward.
As someone who constantly searches for famous bakeries and calls herself a true bread lover, I had honestly just accepted it as part of life. I even tried quite a few rice bread bakeries over the years, but most of them failed to recreate that soft, chewy texture that makes traditional wheat bread so addictive. On top of that, rice bread was usually more expensive while somehow tasting less satisfying.
Then I recently discovered Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread near Gangnam-gu Office Station.
This small bakery completely changed my expectations about rice flour bread. The bread here is soft, chewy, flavorful, reasonably priced, and most importantly, incredibly comfortable on the stomach. Since they directly mill freshly harvested Korean rice inside the bakery itself, the texture and freshness feel noticeably different from most rice bakeries I have tried before.
Honestly, after visiting once, I immediately felt like this was the bakery I should switch to permanently.

Interior Space of Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread

I purposely visited around early lunchtime because I had heard many breads sell out quickly during the day.

Even then, most of the morning breads were already gone.

Fresh bread continued coming out nonstop from the baking area in the back, filling the entire bakery with that warm comforting smell of freshly baked bread. What fascinated me most was how quickly everything disappeared. Customers would walk in, grab multiple bags almost immediately, and leave as though they were afraid the bread would sell out within minutes.
I stayed there for around 40 minutes and honestly had never seen anything quite like it inside a bakery before.
The variety was also surprisingly wide. Beyond simple meal breads, there were rice-made desserts, pound cakes, financiers, madeleines, and tarts neatly displayed throughout the shop.
The most popular items seemed to be their healthier daily breads:
- sugar-free brown rice bread
- vegan olive bread
- low-sugar multigrain bread
- rye bread
- barley bread
- soft morning rolls
Several of these products had even received official certifications showing no detectable sugar content, which explained why customers kept buying them in bulk.
After trying several breads myself and realizing how chewy yet comfortable they felt to digest, I immediately thought of my mother, who has recently been trying to reduce sugar intake. I ended up ordering additional breads for delivery afterward because they genuinely felt like healthier alternatives without sacrificing texture.

One side of the bakery was also filled with beautifully packaged baked desserts that looked perfect for gifts.

There are only two small four-person tables inside near the windows, but most customers seemed focused on takeout rather than dining in. Still, it felt comfortable enough to sit down briefly with a drink and enjoy a light meal.
Menu at Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread
Since Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread functions both as a bakery and a small café, drinks are naturally available alongside the breads.
The beverage menu felt surprisingly healthy overall. Alongside coffee, they offered misutgaru drinks, grain-based traditional Korean beverages, tea, and even sweet Korean rice punch.
Seasonal menu items like fruit juice and shaved ice seemed temporarily unavailable because the bakery itself was already extremely busy with bread production alone.
There were also brochures explaining various rice-based dessert gift sets, which honestly felt meaningful for special occasions or healthier gifts during holidays.
Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread even runs small review events where customers can receive additional baked treats, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming rather than commercial.
The Bread at Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread

Since I was walking around all day and did not want to carry too many boxes, I carefully selected only the breads I wanted to try most.
Everything was individually packaged beautifully, which made both eating and taking leftovers home incredibly convenient.

After sitting down with an iced Americano, I started with their sugar-free cream bread bites.

They came already sliced into bite-sized pieces and had a soft fluffy texture that almost reminded me of miniature roll cake pieces with a slightly chewy finish.

But the true highlight of the day was absolutely the Noble Olive Bread.

The amount of black olives packed inside was honestly unbelievable. The moment I tore the bread apart with my hands, I could already feel the incredible elasticity and chewiness of the dough itself.
The texture was deeply satisfying — soft, chewy, slightly sticky in the best way possible — and every bite with the salty black olives tasted perfect.
This honestly became one of my favorite breads ever.
Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread’s staff explained that because they directly mill their own rice flour, the bread maintains its texture surprisingly well even after refrigeration or freezing. Simply reheating it in the microwave or oven restores the original chewiness almost perfectly.
That explanation alone convinced me to place another delivery order immediately afterward.

The Himalayan salt bread was excellent as well. Crispy on the outside with a buttery aroma, yet chewy and dense inside in a way that felt far more filling than many wheat-based salt breads.

I also tried their old-fashioned castella cake, which instantly reminded me of childhood memories. It tasted exactly like the soft castella Korean grandmothers used to serve with warm barley tea whenever someone was sick.
Final Thoughts about Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread
For people like me who love bread but constantly struggle with bloating after eating wheat flour, Gangnam Rice Bakery Gangnam Rice Bread honestly feels like a game changer.
Most rice breads I tried before sacrificed texture for health, but this bakery somehow manages to keep both. The breads are genuinely chewy, flavorful, satisfying, and still much easier on the stomach.
Especially as more people begin caring about sugar intake and overall health, places like this feel increasingly valuable.
Whether you are searching for healthier bakery options in Seoul, looking for thoughtful gifts for family members, or simply curious about Korean rice flour bread done properly, Gangnam Flour Mill is absolutely worth visiting.
And if you go, the Noble Olive Bread is non-negotiable.
