One of the best things about this restaurant is that there is no break time.

Interior of Gangnam Gyudon Restaurant, Tokyo Gyudon

Compared to many small restaurants in the Gangnam-gu Office area, the space here is actually quite comfortable.
The layout is simple:
- the kitchen sits at the far end of the hallway-style interior
- two-person tables line both sides of the dining area
- additional tables are placed near the entrance
This setup makes the restaurant ideal for both solo diners and pairs.

If two or more people visit together, tables can easily be combined to accommodate groups of up to four. Partial divider walls between some tables also provide a bit of privacy, making the dining experience more comfortable.

Near one side of the restaurant, there is a self-service side dish station with:
- pickled radish
- cubed radish kimchi
- pickled ginger
These simple sides pair very well with rice bowls. The pickled radish is consistently good, while the radish kimchi varies slightly depending on the day—sometimes freshly made, sometimes more fermented.
Ordering System at Gangnam Gyudon Restaurant, Tokyo Gyudon

Once you confirm there is a table available, you first order using the kiosk located near the entrance.
Many customers also order takeout, so the kiosk first asks whether your order is dine-in or takeout before displaying the menu.
Most tables tend to choose the set menus, which are excellent value since they include gyudon along with side dishes.
However, on this visit I decided to order a custom gyudon with extra options, which are not included in the standard set menu.
Menu of Gangnam Gyudon Restaurant, Tokyo Gyudon
The menu focuses on Japanese home-style rice bowls, particularly gyudon.
However, if you are not in the mood for beef bowls, the restaurant also offers:
- other donburi varieties
- udon
- Japanese curry
- side dishes
This makes it a convenient place for nearby office workers who want to visit regularly and try different menu items.
Personally, if I had a Gangnam Gyudon Restaurant, Tokyo Gyudon branch near my home or daily route, I could easily eat here multiple times a week without getting bored.
The prices are also very reasonable, making it a great casual dining option in Gangnam.
Food Review of Gangnam Gyudon Restaurant, Tokyo Gyudon

After ordering at the kiosk and finding a seat, the staff soon brings your meal on a single tray set, which includes everything you ordered.
Even for solo dining, the tray presentation makes the meal feel well organized and satisfying.
For drinks, canned beverages are served directly, but if you prefer to pour them into a cup, you can grab one from the self-service station.
A cold cola to start, and my solo lunch was ready.
Spicy Yaki Gyudon with Mozzarella Cheese

Since I arrived quite hungry after skipping breakfast, I decided to go all in.
I ordered:
- Spicy Yaki Gyudon
- Extra beef portion
- Mozzarella cheese topping
The result was a very generous bowl.
The mozzarella cheese portion at this branch was especially generous compared to other locations. As soon as I lifted a bite with chopsticks, the melted cheese stretched beautifully, creating an instantly satisfying moment.

Mixing the bowl was almost difficult because of the generous portion of beef and cheese.

The flavor was exactly what you want from a good gyudon:
- smoky stir-fried beef
- savory sauce
- spicy kick from the yaki style
- creamy richness from the melted mozzarella
The balance of spicy and creamy flavors made the dish extremely addictive.
Fried Kimchi (Highly Recommended)

One topping I strongly recommend is the stir-fried kimchi, which costs only about 500 KRW.
Adding a bite of fried kimchi to the gyudon completely transforms the flavor. The combination of savory beef, spicy kimchi, and rice creates a perfect balance that makes the bowl even more satisfying.
It’s definitely worth the small extra cost.
Udon Side Dish

I also ordered udon as a side option at a discounted price.
The broth was pleasantly balanced—not overly salty or sweet—and the noodles had a perfectly chewy texture.
The udon also came with generous pieces of fried tofu, which made each bite even more enjoyable.
Karaage Chicken

The karaage chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside.
While it was good on its own, mixing it with the accompanying salad added a refreshing crunch that balanced the fried texture nicely.
Honestly, with karaage like this, it almost felt like a dish that would pair perfectly with beer.
Portion Size
After finishing:
- gyudon
- udon
- karaage
I was incredibly full.
It’s easily the kind of meal where one tray can feel like enough food for the entire day.
