Visit Review of the Seongsu Restaurant Sushidoku The Seongsu
One of my favorite verified sushi spots, Sushidoku, has always been on my go-to list. Whether grabbing takeout on my way home or ordering via Coupang Eats, it’s a staple in my culinary rotation. I recently heard that the new Seongsu branch has become a hot spot in Seongsu-dong, so I decided to check it out.
Address: 1st Floor, 13 Seoul Forest 6-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul
Located closer to Seoul Forest Station than Seongsu-dong, it’s more convenient to drive than to use public transportation. I contacted the restaurant before visiting and found out that there is a public parking lot at Ttukseom Yusuji, about a 10-minute walk from Sushidoku The Seongsu. Parking costs are surprisingly reasonable at 1,800 KRW per hour, and they even offer a 2,000 KRW parking fee subsidy if you bring a photo of your license plate to the restaurant.
For those using public transportation, it’s just a 5-minute walk from Ttukseom Station Exit 8 (Line 2) or Seoul Forest Station Exit 5 (Bundang Line).
Operating Hours:
- Daily: 11:30 – 22:00 (Break Time: 15:00 – 17:00)
- No Break Time on Weekends/Public Holidays
Tips to Avoid Waiting:
- Naver reservations are available until 3 hours before your visit.
- You can also use the Catch Table remote queueing app.
Brand Message:
- “As life is live, so is sushi.”
- “We do not use any Japanese seafood and promise to serve only the safest ingredients.”
Interior
The interior of Sushidoku The Seongsu is notably more modern and sophisticated compared to the Wangsimni flagship. It strikes a balance between a dining space and a cafeteria, with a clean, sleek design. A wall of windows enhances the sense of space and openness.
Menu
Sushidoku The Seongsu offers a wide range of options, from meat to sushi, making it perfect for groups with varying tastes. Sushi often has a high-end image, but here you can enjoy quality food at reasonable prices. They even offer non-alcoholic highballs, making it a great spot for those who can’t drink alcohol but still want to enjoy the atmosphere.
For our meal, we ordered:
- Signature Sukiyaki Set for 2: 71,800 KRW
- Karaage (4 pieces): 4,900 KRW
- Two Highballs: 18,000 KRW
The sukiyaki arrived first, bubbling away, with beautiful beef tartare served on the side. The sushi was visually stunning, almost too beautiful to eat, with the kind of perfection you expect from a top-tier sushi restaurant.
The sukiyaki, reminiscent of a Japanese hot pot, was rich and flavorful. Each bite was a delight, confirming Sushidoku The Seongsu as a top contender among Seongsu-dong’s hot spots.
The sushi was fresh and perfectly prepared, with a delightful balance of flavors, whether dipped in soy sauce or brushed with a delicate glaze.
The beef tartare was beautifully plated, almost like a cupcake, with egg yolk mixed in and served with seaweed for a delightful bite.
Though we were full, we couldn’t resist the perfectly fried karaage that arrived as part of a special promotion. The crispy exterior and juicy interior were impeccable, making for a satisfying end to our meal. We also received mini dishes as gifts – mini eel rice bowl and mini karaage rice bowl – both prepared with care and bursting with flavor.
Conclusion
Sushidoku The Seongsu’s location is ideal, easily accessible from various parts of the city. It’s become a new favorite, perfect for meetings and dates alike. After enjoying a meal, strolling through the vibrant streets of Seongsu-dong is a great way to round off the evening, making it an excellent date course for couples. The modern, clean atmosphere, convenient parking, and exceptional cuisine make it a must-visit spot. I’m already planning to bring my parents here soon – especially since it combines all of my dad’s favorite foods. With the holidays coming up, a reservation at this Seongsu hot spot is definitely in order.
