If you’re looking for a great spot to grab a slice of pizza and a beer, especially if you’re near Samsung Jungang Station, Spontini PUB is the place to go. Located just across from my office, this pizza joint is a favorite among my colleagues, especially on those long workdays when we grab a slice or a whole pizza to share.

Although I was hesitant to try Spontini at first because their pizza slices looked thick—almost like Chicago-style deep dish despite the sign reading “Milanese pizza”—I finally decided to give it a shot. And I’m glad I did.

Menu

As a pizza-by-the-slice joint, Spontini offers a variety of unique pizzas with ingredients you don’t typically see elsewhere. Prices for individual slices range from about 9,900 KRW to 12,900 KRW. While that may sound a bit pricey for a slice, the portion sizes are massive—so much so that it’s challenging for a single person to finish a whole slice.

If you’re planning a party, they also offer whole pizzas with 8 slices for 99,200 KRW or a half-pizza with 4 slices for 49,600 KRW. While that might seem steep, the pizzas here are perfect for catering, home parties, or even as a work lunch to share with colleagues.

For solo diners like me, however, this place is perfect for a satisfying lunch break.

Since the dough takes some time to ferment, there’s a slight wait, but it’s totally worth it. Once my order number popped up, I picked up my slice of Prosciutto & Arugula pizza. Of course, I added a generous amount of pepper to top it off.

And wow—this was hands-down one of the best pizzas I’ve had in Korea in recent memory. It’s the kind of pizza that makes you want to bring a friend next time. Although 99,200 KRW for a whole pizza may sound steep, just one slice paired with a cold draft beer is enough to make you happy.

The pizza dough is not like Chicago deep-dish or the doughy crusts from the old Pizza Hut days. Instead, it has more of a focaccia-like texture—airy with little pockets but still chewy and satisfying. The cheese is rich and melty—reminiscent of the famous Artichoke Pizza in New York, though not quite as cheesy. The prosciutto is perfectly salty and flavorful, and the generous heap of fresh arugula gives it a lovely peppery taste and crunch.

Even though I’m someone who usually manages to finish a slice of pizza easily, I found myself getting quite full—these slices are no joke.

Final Thoughts

I’ll definitely be bringing a friend here for a slice in the future. Whether I’m coming here to work on my laptop or just to relax and enjoy a leisurely afternoon with some pizza and beer, Spontini PUB is officially on my list of go-to spots for a slice of pizza. Highly recommend for pizza lovers in the Samsung Jungang area.
