Mandu Jeonbbang is known for its hearty dumpling hot pot, and the flavor takes me back to when my mom used to make dumplings from scratch. It’s that comforting, homemade taste that makes this place stand out as one of the top Handangmatjip spots in the neighborhood.

Ambiance & Wait Time at Haengdang Restaurant, Mandu Jeonbbang
While you wait for your table, there’s a cozy waiting area where you can snack on crispy puffed rice. It’s a small yet charming touch, especially for the elderly regulars who often take some home in a bag.
The interior of the restaurant is filled with quirky hand-drawn characters, presumably designed by the owner.
Originally, the seating arrangement was traditional floor-style, but now they’ve switched to a more modern, comfortable table setup. The space mainly consists of 4-person tables, with a dedicated corner for takeout orders. Given that the dumplings are handmade fresh every day, if you’re planning to visit later in the evening, it’s best to call ahead and confirm availability.
Menu & Ordering Process at Haengdang Restaurant, Mandu Jeonbbang
They’ve recently upgraded their ordering process from traditional menus to digital tablets, making it easier to place orders.
The two most popular hot pot options are the Kimchi Dumpling Hot Pot and the Clear Beef Soup Dumpling Hot Pot with tender slices of beef shank. Both were filling, satisfying, and full of flavor.
Our household preference is always the kimchi version for that extra spicy kick. Another popular choice for meat lovers is the Beef Shank Dumpling Hot Pot, where the beef is so tender it melts in your mouth.
One tip, though—don’t mix and match the two types of hot pots. Once, we added kimchi to the beef shank broth, and the combination ended up being too salty. Stick to one type of hot pot to fully appreciate the flavors.
While they’ve removed the half-size noodles from their menu, the dishes are still generously portioned.
For our meal, we went with the Kimchi Dumpling Hot Pot for two and a side of spicy cold noodles (Bibim Naengmyeon).
Taste & Experience of Haengdang Restaurant, Mandu Jeonbbang
The side dishes have a distinct North Korean influence and are served self-serve, so you can take as much as you like. Paired with the house-made barley tea, the meal is a comforting and wholesome experience.
Each dumpling is filled generously and is boiled in the hot pot until they float to the top—ready to eat. The broth has a rich, spicy flavor, and you can ask for extra green chili peppers if you want an extra kick. The dumpling wrappers are thin, and the filling is packed with perfectly seasoned ingredients, making each bite a delightful burst of flavor.
Additionally, the restaurant sells dumpling kits and their special broth, which are especially popular during the Korean holiday season when customers line up to buy ingredients for New Year’s rice cake soup (Tteokguk).
After the meal, I finished with a puffed rice snack to cap off the perfect, filling meal. If you’re looking for a spicy, warming dish to enjoy on a cold day, Mandu Jeonbbang is the place to be.
This restaurant brings the cozy, comforting feel of homemade dumplings to life. Its authentic flavors, attention to detail, and the care that goes into each dish make it a must-visit if you’re in the Haengdang area.
