- If you’re looking for a wine bar where the chef takes care of every detail, meticulously from start to finish…
Osteria Roero is a Seongsu wine bar I would recommend without hesitation.
On one chilly day, with winter suddenly upon us, I had a “Seongsu date” with my father.
Overview, Seongsu Wine Bar, Osteria Roero
Located just a 7-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 3, it’s easy to find. Just think of it as being behind the well-known Daelim Warehouse in Seongsu. It’s also near Seongsu Dalak, another famous Seongsu restaurant, making it easy to pinpoint for those familiar with the area.
When you spot the neatly displayed wine signage tucked in a quiet, small alley, you’ve found the right place. The exterior is simple, yet inviting, and they even have a menu displayed outside to help you decide before entering this hidden gem of a Seongsu hotspot, Osteria Roero.

Interior of Seongsu Wine Bar, Osteria Roero
Climb a short flight of stairs to the glass door, where you can see the cozy, warm interior. The space itself is small, clearly designed to accommodate just enough people for the chef to handle personally—a one-man operation that immediately gives you the feeling of an intimate spot.
It almost feels like the movie Midnight Diner, where a single chef runs the whole place, tending to each customer. There’s one 4-seat window table, with the rest being bar seating around the chef, making for a very small, intimate wine bar. If you have your heart set on the window seat, or even if you simply want a specific bar seat, it’s best to make a reservation through Naver or Catch Table, as this Seongsu gem, Osteria Roero, fills up fast.

The seating arrangement is thoughtfully spaced, allowing for privacy, and you immediately feel like the chef might be someone you’d easily become a regular with—someone who offers a welcoming and warm presence.
I snapped a photo of the window seating after some guests left, imagining how romantic the space must be when the holiday lights are twinkling around Christmas time. Wines are also displayed throughout the restaurant, adding to the aesthetic appeal and making it easy to choose a bottle.
A coat rack is thoughtfully placed nearby, and cozy blankets are provided to keep you warm—a small but appreciated detail that makes you feel at home. The entire space feels like stepping into a neat, organized pocket of a Doraemon pouch—small yet packed with everything you could need.
Menu
The menu is concise and well-organized into three easy-to-read pages. It’s refreshing to not be overwhelmed by an excessive wine list. Instead, it’s carefully curated by the chef, focusing primarily on Italian cuisine and wine, which reflects the chef’s training in Italy.
On this visit, we decided to go with a simple yet satisfying selection: a glass of house wine each and two dishes that weren’t too heavy.
- Bolognese Ragu Pasta: ₩22,000
- White Wine Clam Stew: ₩18,000
- White House Wine (Glass): ₩10,000
- Red House Wine (Glass): ₩10,000
Seongsu Wine Bar, Osteria Roero: The Taste of the Food
The Italian-style table setting came first, followed by the wine. I opted for the white wine, Ruffino Orvieto Classico DOC (IT), while my father chose the red, Ruffino Chianti DOCG (IT).
This was my first time trying these wines, and I loved how light they were—not too heavy. The white had a subtle freshness, reminiscent of green apples, which made it a delightful choice. It’s the kind of wine you could sip throughout a meal without it overpowering the flavors of the dishes. I’ve now added it to my personal wine list!
As we sipped our wine, the chef got to work, his hands moving swiftly and efficiently. Watching him cook while we shared stories of travel was part of the experience, as the chef also engaged in conversation while multitasking in the kitchen.
The Bolognese Ragu Pasta arrived first, made with delicate tagliatelle noodles that were thinner and lighter than I expected, making them easy to enjoy. The rich, flavorful tomato sauce, packed with generous meatballs, was incredibly satisfying. The flavors might seem subtle at first, but they grow on you, making each bite more addictive than the last.
Next came the White Wine Clam Stew, a delightful blend of garlic, clams, Italian parsley, and extra virgin olive oil, all infused with the flavor of white wine. It paired perfectly with the wine, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that made for a satisfying and comforting dish.
Throughout the meal, the chef checked in regularly, ensuring everything was to our liking, making the experience feel all the more personal.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a wine bar in Seongsu slightly off the beaten path, somewhere you’d love to become a regular, or if you’re seeking a place that offers simple yet delicious, healthy meals alongside a well-made glass of wine, I wholeheartedly recommend Osteria Roero. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a cozy, intimate evening with friends, or even a long, romantic night with a loved one.
